Positive Playground Behaviour at Elmvale Primary School

Positive behaviour is encouraged at all times. Elmvale Primary and Nursery Class is piloting a group to promote reflection on behaviour and promotion on positive behaviour.

This group is called, 'ELMVALE COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM: E.C.A.T'

Aim:

  • The Elmvale Community Action Team promotes good choices and decision making. The ECAT will contribute to the positive ethos and school environment.

Who?

  • This group will be led by Miss Davidson as part of her Nurture remit. Both DHT's will help coordinate and oversee this group.
  • This group is intended for any children from P1 to P7 who have been involved in disruptive or negative attitudes towards others in the playground.
  • Children are referred by the management team.
  • Children can attend for one or more sessions.

Why?

  • For the children to give something back to the school as a community and focus on being positive about themselves whilst reflecting on their actions, to enhance the positive school ethos.

When?

  • Wednesday lunch time 12:15 to 1pm.
  • Activities include gardening, litter picking and playground improvements.

What?

  • During the time the children are with Miss Davidson they will have lunch together. This is the beginning of the reflection and discussion time. Focus will be on how children can resolve or "put right" what they have been involved in. It is important that the children realise they are trying to "give back" something positive to the school as a community.
  • Attendance (date and number of times) in the group is recorded by Miss Davidson.
